QUIZ (English Version)

1. When did the net become crucial to your work?
From the beginning, I started painting a JPEG icon and registering my first
my first domain name.

2. Did anyone in particular introduce you to the net?
Friends during military service. I started programming in Turbo
Pascal when I was very young then I left the machine for 2-3 years. I came back (to the future?) in the 96-97.

3. I remember when... (Please reminisce briefly about your early days
on the net.)
I was fascinated by the aesthetic of spamming, bored by data chaos art
works, mesmerized by the first Altavista mountain logo.

4. The dotcom boom came & went and all I got was...
…my decision to make art. Four years ago I tried to run my own e-company
with a friend I met during my years in design school. We failed in 6 months.
I was one of the first e-losers in history.

5. If you had to be stuck on a desert island with Bill Gates or Steve
Jobs, who would you pick and why?
May be SJ, he looks stronger then BG, so he could be more useful in fishing
or making fire while I'm sunbathing.

6. Please finish the sentence. A day offline is...
An expensive day: I need to call my girlfriend at least 10 times asking her to
check my e-mail accounts from her office and waiting for minutes at the cell
till she reads the last "Viagra Pill" mail's subject line.

7. Where do you turn when you're stuck with a technical problem?
Usually I call a friend of mine, a fake geek. I already know that at the end
he will not solve my tech problems, but I can't not call him. He
could suffer from that.

didn't exist?
The diamond cutter.

10. If the web was an animal, what kind of animal would it be?

Quand le Net est-il devenu primordial dans votre travail ?
Dès le début, j'ai commencé à peindre un icone JPEG et j'ai enregistré mon premier nom de domaine.

Quelqu'un en particulier vous a-t-il initié(e) au Net ?
Des amis pendant mon service militaire. J'ai d'abord commencé à programmer en turbo pascal, quand j'étais jeune. Ensuite, j'ai laissé tombé l'ordinateur pendant deux trois ans. J'ai fait un retour (vers le futur ?) en 96-97.

Je me souviens...
J'étais fasciné par l'esthétique du spamming, en extase devant le logo d'Alta Vista (leur premier, celui qui représentait une montagne) et toutes ces oeuvres en ligne qui proliféraient un peu partout m'ennuyaient royalement.

Les pointcom étaient en plein boom et tout ce que j'avais c'était...
Ma décision de faire de l'art. Il y a quatre, j'ai essayé de monter ma propre entreprise électronique avec un ami que j'avais rencontré pendant mes études d'art appliqué. On n'a pas tenu six mois. J'ai été l'un des premiers e-losers de l'histoire.

Vous devez partir sur une île déserte. On vous donne à choisir entre Bill Gates et Steve Jobs, vous partez avec qui et pourquoi ?
Peut-être bien Steve Jobs. Il a l'air plus costaud que Bill Gates... Lui pourrait aller à la pêche ou faire un feu pendant que je me dore au soleil.

Une journée hors connexion c'est...
Une journée qui me coûte cher : je suis du genre à appeler au moins dix fois ma copine au bureau de mon portable pour lui demander de regarder mes e-mails. Après quoi je dois rester pendu à mon cellulaire à attendre qu'elle finisse de lire le énième mail concernant le Viagra.

Vous êtes bloqué(e) à cause d'un problème technique, vers qui vous tournez-vous ?
En général, j'appelle un ami, un vrai malade. Je sais déjà qu'à la fin, il ne résoudra pas mon problème technique, mais je ne peux pas ne pas l'appeler. Il le vivrait mal.
